Banned Books Week is an important annual observance highlighting the problem of censorship in libraries across the United States. This year Banned Books Week is October 1-7, and the University Libraries hosted a table in Jackson Library on Monday, October 2, where students could stop and share their favorite banned book. Librarians and Graduate Student who staffed the table had lively conversations with students, many of whom were surprised to learn that their favorite childhood books and book series have been banned or challenged in one library or another around the country. To see a selection of banned books that are available in Jackson Library, the Harold Schiffman Music Library, the Michel Family Teaching Resources Center, and the Intercultural Resource Center, visit https://uncg.libguides.com/bannedbooks.
