Join University Libraries for a virtual lunch and learn on May 11, 2021, via Zoom at 12 noon EST. The workshop will be presented by GIS and Data Visualization Librarian Jo Klein, who will present geocaching, a world-wide scavenger hunt that can be done with any GPS receiver (including most smartphones and some tablet devices!) or sometimes even just a compass and a map.
Geocaching is a great way to get outdoors and practice your “finding” skills, while having fun! For field biologists, ecologists, geologists, surveyors and other professionals who work with GPS, geocaching is a fun hands-on activity to learn or practice skills like navigation and recording observational data. Topics covered will include what geocaching is, how it works and how you can join, featuring geocaches you can find on or near campus. All UNCG students, faculty, staff and community members are welcome.
