Erin Lawrimore, University Archivist and Associate Professor, has received two awards from Archive-It in its inaugural “Pitch a Collection” contest. In an effort to diversify the types of collections of web content being archived by University Libraries, the awards will allow Lawrimore to create collections on topics that are interesting, unique and under-represented that also fall outside of the libraries’ current web archive collection development policy.
University Libraries will receive 200GB of storage (100GB per project) to build the “Archives of Beer and Brewing,” and “Beer Bloggers Archive,” both related to Well Crafted NC and the nationwide Brewing History Consortium.
The “Archives of Beer and Brewing” will focus on documenting websites of breweries across the U.S. and working with other members of the Brewing History Consortium to access and build the collection, while the “Beer Bloggers Archive” will focus on prominent national beer blogs.
Lawrimore will also author a post for the Archive-It blog about both projects and how they tie into University Libraries’ collections.
