Richard Cox, University Libraries’ Digital Technology Consultant, will give a presentation at the High Point Museum about the Digital Library on American Slavery (DLAS) on February 25, 2017 at 1 p.m.
The DLAS contains unique, detailed information extracted from legislative and county court petitions, runaway slave ads, slavery-era insurance registries, slave deeds and slave trade voyages. Buried in these documents are names and other data on more than 200,000 individuals. In his presentation, Cox will demonstrate how to search the database and review what can be found within the collection, as well as answer any questions participants may have about the contents and use of the database.
